Me either, but, the fact theres a known issue does lead hope for
another..

searching on Recently Closed....Delphi?
Nothing, yet. The update appeared several days before it was expected.

Tried installing again, no luck. Still at 9.0.1.
I recommend asking in the install.delphi group.

Just a guess, but,, if you did any of the optimizations that entailed
renaming files, that may be why it is {*word*89}, because it is a patch and
doesn't actually replace files.

Can somebody point me in the direction of the site that tells which files needed
to be renamed? I don't remember which ones they were and I am having the same
installation problem with the Pro.
Also can somebody verify that changing these back works or has other steps that
do work, to make the Pro version update?

Major hugs for all the fixes, and all the work gone in to get it out
early, even if we arent entirely sure what is fixed at this time, I
know some of the things that had bugged me are gone..

I believe it went
rename/delete tgide90.bpl and borland.studio.together.dll

Cant vouche for pro, but I know my issues with the architect version
were because I tried to use a remote CD not a local one and so it
wouldnt prompt me for the other disk... and so I copied all files onto
my HD and tada it shut up.

Seriously, good work on keeping the updates coming, this is far and
away better than how Delphi 7 was handled. Hopefully if an update 3 is
necessary it'll follow this same quick schedule.

...I haven't renamed anything. I said in an earlier post that everything is
in it is default state (unless update1 did something fun...).

There will be more showing up as we update reports in the internal
system w/ the resolved in build #, but right now there's 57. That's
only bugs linked b/n QC and RAID.

I'd keep looking for the next week, since I am still asking QA to run
through the bugs and make sure resolutions are set.

It finally finished reinstalling update #1. Just running that is
enough to put me in a bad mood (*).

But even after reinstalling update 1 it still comes up with this smug,
irritating message:

"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows"
"installer service because the program to be upgraded"
"may be missing, or the upgrade patch may upgrade a"
"different version of the program. Verify that the program"
"to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you"
"have the correct upgrade patch."

[ OK ]

Well, no. it is not "OK". Why do people write messages like this?
Something went wrong. Blame Microsoft. Blame the customer. Blame
anyone you like. Just don't take any responsibility yourself. How
about putting up a message instead that says:

"Our upgrade patch cannot be installed because its
looking for version 1.0.3 of 'boride90.bpl', but
that file cannot be found. We are sorry that the
upgrade failed. Please contact your Borland
representative with these details and we will help
you get a resolution"

[ Cancel the Upgrade ]

(*) Oh yes. Installing upgrade 1. It drove me nuts when I first
installed it, and its no more palatable the second time around. the
whole thing is infused with that smug, faux-optimistic corporate
bullsh*t that I have grown to loathe. In particular.

* It starts off by blaming me. 'Some features are missing from your
installation. Insert the original installation CD 1'. Features? What
features?? I did a full install. If this is a security check - say
so! Luckily I know by now to keep my original D2005 CDs strapped to my
inner thigh just in case - so I can proceed.

* Well there's slow - and then there's slow. (And I have remembered to
temporarily turn off my Virus checker). For ages it gets stuck on
'Estimated time remaining 14 minutes'. Then it jumps to 18 minutes.
Nice. I stalk off to have a cigarette and do a SuDoku. When I get
back it is on '3 minutes left' and finally it ticks down to '0'!!!

* Hah. It may have reached zero. But it is grayed out all the buttons
and is sitting there fiddling with itself. The minutes tick by.

* 'Setup is removing backup files'. Please wait. We're finally
getting somewhere...

* ... "estimated time remaining - 5 minutes". 5 minutes? 5 minutes???
To delete a few files ??? Or even a whole directory containing
hundreds of megabytes of the things? What's it doing? Soaking them
away with warm soapy water or something.

Grrrrr!

Re: Update 2 available

Well, kill that theory. I re-renamed the two files Liz mentioned and I get
the same error message that Colin showed.

That's an interesting theory. It would be rather easy to test. Has anyone
who used DCM instead of manually renaming files run into the same problem?

I just downloaded and installed Delphi 2005 update 2.

So far it seems stable, but still has memory leaks when debugging.

Re: Update 2 available

Well, I was going to complain because I *just* installed Delphi 2005
yesterday along with Update 1, and now Update 2 comes out the next day.
But after reading about some of the problems people are having, I guess
I won't complain after all, since Update 2 installed without a hitch. <grin>
