In C:\Program Files\Borland\BDS\3.0\update3_filelist.htm you have the
list of files that were modified by the Update 3. You may restore those
files from your laptop installation.

Re: Delphi 2005 Update 3 (English) and Update 2 (French) now available

Here it is my timeline of a complete D2005 reinstall:
Start uninstall: 09:39am
Start install: 09:46am
Install upd2: 09:55am
Instal upd3: 10:05am
Finished: 10:11am
Total elapsed: 32 minutes
(I'm using a mounted image drive for the two D2005 cdroms, on a P4 3.2Ghz)

Are you SURE you've installed Update 3? Does Update 3 show in the about

Here's the explanation from the integration team:

The Arch download is smallest because the Update 2 Inline and
Download were the same.
What is the Inline?
Quote
The files appear quite small because they are only patching the bits
that differed rather than overwriting the entire file (which is what
we did for Update 1).
Oh, nice.

Very usable after applying Update 3. Thank you Borland. Pity that we

I think you should read Tim Del Chiaro's message. More like 7 weeks.

My interpretation of what Alvaro said was the time measurement of 7 months
was from the initial release of Delphi 2005 to Update 3; an update that makes
it usable for him.

I forgot how much I hate those downloaders that Borland (and a lot of
other sites) use. Why don't they use bittorrent?

The initial page doesn't mention the new versions yet but if you click on
Update 2, the files will be available on the download page.

This has been discussed before. That would be obnoxious for folks like
me who don't have it installed, and you *do* have the option of not
using the download manager.

Well, I tried the update and it gives me the following error:
"Internal Error 2920. changes.htm"
and it rolls back everything. What can I do?

I know this is probably little consolation, but I currently can
uncheck the BDE component library without suffering any exceptions or
problems. Maybe there is something odd going on between d2005 and
your system.
Probably. Unfortunately, I have a number of third party libraries
installed, so I cannot rule them out as possible culprits.
I'm contemplating a system rebuild. Not the sort of thing to be
undertaken lightly, since my programming tools alone will take the
better part of a day to reinstall. The debate at this point isn't 'if',
but 'how much' to rebuild. A bigger hard drive is definitely called
for, and now that I have a Real Job (Delphi programming in Aurora, no
less) I may just take the leap and get a new Mobo/CPU/RAM. Two gigs
with a 64-bit CPU and PCI-X 6800GT video gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.
It'll probably be capable of heating the house, too.
In any case, if/when I do the rebuild, I will make an effort to test
D2005p3 in its clean state, without any 3rd party libraries to see if
this still happens. I kind of have a suspicion that patch 3 is the last
one we'll be seeing, so the answer may be academic, but it is easy
enough to test on a clean install.
