i see in several forums that people advise to not use simpledataset
component. they prefer to use SQLDataset / ClientDataSet / DataSetProvider
for update/Delete/insert.
But they don't give explanations for their choice.
Someone can help me ?
Thx

Re:simpledataset

Using the TSimpleData set you can not access it is internal
TDataSetProvider a limitation that will left you alone in
the cold soon or later... It is not recomended to
Master-Detail stuff too.

Re:simpledataset

Advantage of Using 3 comp. instead of SQLSimpleDATASET
The advantage to use 3 components and not SQLSimpleDataset is :
* Migrate to a MultTier environment without lose code, because all code will
be placed in ClientDataSet.
2 Tier :
DataModule
[ TSQLConnection ->TSQLDataSet ->TDataSetProvider ->TClientDataSet ]
3 Tier :
DataModule
[ DCOMConnection->ConectionBroker->TClientDataSet ]
RemoteDataModule
TSQLConnection ->TSQLDataSet ->TDataSetProvider
* With 3 components, the migration to another dataset kind (and other
database) is more flexible :
[ TSQLConnection ->TSQLDataSet ->TDataSetProvider ->TClientDataSet ]
[ TDataBase ->TQuery ->TDataSetProvider ->TClientDataSet ]
Note ? If you place all code in ClientDataset, you can change to a MultiTier
or to other type of Dataset, as IBX or ADO.
