Well, lets just say I created my own protocol using Synapse and I fire
up the tunnel using createprocess, I then test the viability of the
tunnel and if I can connect I then fire up the VNC server using it's
command line options and set the server to accept connections only from
localhost i.e. the tunnel. ON the client I fire up the tunnel and the
VNC viewer from a thread and use waitforsingleobject, so I know when the
viewer has closed, then I send a signal to the remote service to
shutdown the tunnel and the VNC server. It all works great and because
I am running the VNC server from the context of the service the
CTRL+ALT+DELETE still works :-)
I store the PID of the zebadee tunnel and use that to kill it when the
signal comes from the Synapse Viewer application. I shut the server
down by calling the VNC server exe again with the shutdown command line
option. I also do some things to manipulate the VNC registry settings
for the password etc.

The security guys are happy with it because it does not leave any VNC
processes running and I bypass the VNC password and use Active Directory
authentication.

Thanks.
A bit much to digest at once, but probably sufficient to get me
deciding if that is a direction I should move in <g>...

I could make it a ton better if I embedded a native remote control
solution that could just go over the existing Synapse SSL connection
used for the start/stop signals and chat.
"Aye, there's the rub."

I also have a Synapse SSH tunnel example on my site, which could be
adapted to a SSL tunnel pretty easily:

Thanks again.

frankly i don't care for the source
i'm using vnc now and we have serious issues with it
so if you can offer me a valid replacement for that I am willing to buy
so do you?

Ok, here's a serious question: would it be acceptable for you to have
Remote Client/Host and Gateway with full source code, but the Remote
Control part only as an executable with customizable user interface? Or
would you only be happy if you got the full source code for all the
applications?

There are ways how one could implement remote application control
without using screen capture. But, you will need something like PC
Anywhere with screen capture capabilities if you want to control the
whole screen. And that brings us back to square one.

Another question is: how much would that be worth?
Lets assume both options were supported (full screen and window). I
would suggest pricing of something like this:
Delphi/VCL solution
a) Basic RCL Remote Console Library - No source code - 69 Euros
b) Pro RCL - Includes Source code - 139 Euros
c) Enterprise RCL - Includes Source Code and Gateway - 239 Euros
.NET Solution (No source for either solution)
a) Basic RCL - Interop - 79 Euros
b) Enterprise RCL - 159 Euros
Later you could code the .NET version in C# and add the source option
but for now it should be quite easy to create a Interop version using
Delphi. Once the C# version exists, you could have the same options as
the Delphi version - probably with a slightly higher price as that is
what most .NET vendors do.
The .NET one is probably where the bigger money lies but it would be
better to leverage what you already have to get there.

Re: POLL: RTC Remote Tools 2.0

Hi Danijel,
Client - I'd like to use components to create my own client with my own
optional features, etc. - yes, source or just the components. As long as I
could have access to all the methods to make it work.
Host - I'd be the only one using it so I whatever you deliver will
probably be untouched by me, as long as the features are there. Source code
would be optional for me.
Gateway - Same as Host, I don't plan on changing it, UI doesn't matter --
make it easy and configurable. No source needed for me. Heck, you could be
a limiter on it so only XX connects at one time would be allowed. I
typically have no more than
That is the way I am using it now - if you wanted a "powered by RTC" on the
Client UI as a requirement, I'd have no problem putting is on there.
Right now I wrote 2 client apps.
"Remote Help!" (I made look like Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection) -
user connects, I take over their PC while they watch.
"Remote Present!" - user connects, they see my screen so I can do
presentations/training remotely. Typically this is one on one, but there
was one time I can remember I had 3 people connected to me viewing my
screen. This is where you could limit the gateway to 5 users!
All based on the version 1 stuff. If I could replicate those two, I would
be happy!
