Heck, I
even bought myself a copy of Accelerated C++, but haven't found time
to get beyond Chapter 1 yet.
Found a strangely interesting book on Troy Kitch's desk the other day.
It was a reference book that included both C# and C++ examples for the
subjects in it. Might even have included C. Will have to look at the
title again. It struck me as such a peculiar combination I don't even
remember for sure what it was!

I don't find that combination either strange or peculiar. (the book that is, not
that it was on Troy Kitch's desk who, because he has that book on his desk and
like so many of the Borland folk, sounds fascinating even if he were slightly
strange and peculiar which I am sure he is not <just joking>) ;-)
From what I have been reading (mostly on MS employee blogs) there seems to be a
small but growing number of C++ programmers who are switching over to C# but now
that C++ programmers can program directly in .NET managed code it will be
interesting to see if that is a real trend or just a temporary aberration.
Nevertheless there is a strong connection between C# and C++.

Understood. I think it was the choice of examples and topics that
struck me as peculiar. I will have to look at the book again.
