How to buy Turbo Delphi Professional in China

I contacted the distributor listed in the borland web site to ask if Turbo
Delphi Professional
will be available in China market, the answer is "No". Even delphi
professional is also not
available, only delphi enterprise version is available, which is 2 times
expensive than
the professional version and 4 times expensive than Turbo Delphi.
And the price is even more expensive than the price of US(around 3,000 US$).
Is it a marketing strategy of Borland?

Re:How to buy Turbo Delphi Professional in China

I have to tell you it is true in many other countries except USA. You
have to know this is not wield.
How to buy? I am not going to buy any until it is DevCo that serves. I
am not going to buy anything from Borlandish guys. And at this very
moment, a Turbo Delphi Explorer version is enough. It already meets all
my needs now.
The only option for you is to wait. If you are not patient, you may walk
away and never turn back.
Sometimes it is Borland that drives us away from it. I wish DevCo do
something more positive.

Instead of straight from Borland, via the Internet.
This is a policy I just do not understand.
Seriously, I just don't have a clue why somebody selling a pure
software product wants to manufacture CDs/DVDs, box them, ship them
round the world and pay a middle man.
What value are these people adding?

Ian,

What value are these people adding?
promoting the product, organizing events, provinding support and
speaking the customer's language.
I admit that all of the above could be done by organizations that are
_not_ resellers, but I guess that having a stake gives them incentives.

If these activities add value, then let people pay for them, or let
DevCo subsidise them. Then we'll see exactly how valuable they are ;-)

Again, I find myself in total agreement with you. In days of yore,
before the Internet, using in-country distributors was a good workable
model. But, in the Internet age, it is an anachronism. Not only that, I
believe it is harming sales of product.

Even nowadays, with struggle on software patents and other legal issues,
it's a safe procedure for every customer, to purchase a product from a
local company, under local law. Globalization goes different ways, on
paper and in reality :-(

Someone from Borland/DTG will have to answer this; I don't know the
answer.
