'new' item, it 'reminded' me of one of my peeves with BCB/Delphi.

Why, oh why, is the method for selecting multiple items done by pressing
the SHIFT key and clicking on the item, rather than pressing the CONTROL
key and selecting the item (as seems to be done in most other Windows
If I had to guess, it is because of the parenting issue of selecting items
which isn't a problem when only selecting single items like a file list. The
CONTROL key is used to select child items of a control by dragging the
selection over the desired child controls. It doesn't allow selecting items
outside the control of the parent.
That's the best I could come up with when I first thought about it. Then, I
just got used to it and it hasn't bothered me since. :-)
