I'm currently looking at the offering from infragistics.com (netvantage).
But what
other major players should I consider?

Give DeveloperExpress www.devexpress.com/ a try.

Their components are really good, and I am pleased with their support.
I also heard about Janus www.janusys.com. I have never used
them, though.
