Borland decided to rename its version of Object Pascal to Delphi.
The rest of the world has decided to ignore this much like we
ignored the Borland =>Inprise name change. In a year or two,
they will mark the Delphi language group read only and put back
the Object Pascal group.
Your right comparing it to the company name change. it is a big WHO
CARES all round.
I personally think they should rename it to "The JED Language" (TJL
(tm)).
Perhaps I will allow them to call it that when they put the implements
keyword back into the dot net compiler.

I don't believe that there is any compiler directive to
indicate that, no.
Almost certainly, there a simple bug that one could check
to see if it has been fixed that would distinguish 7.1.

Re: Detecting 7.1 at compile time

That would work at "runtime" but Steve is asking for some way to detect the version at
"Compile" time. This could be done in the IDE with a "addin" but I do not think it would
usable from a command line compile.

It seems that the CompilerVersion and RTLVersion constants were not
changed. So it is hard to tell, during compilation.
