OK .. I am not gonna complain cuz that isn't nice. so ..
Would someon pleeeeease tell me how to use the help system in Delphi 2007 so that
I can see the "Delphi" help. I dont care about VB(Visual Basic) or JScript or C++ .. I am a
Delphi Paschal man ...
I wanted to look up the "Date Functions" in Delphi 2007 and see about some "month
arithmetic" and after 35 different searches in the index all I found was
everything from Indy stuff to VB(Visual Basic) (which is akin to VD around here).
TIA
Del

Maybe quicker to use the Contents Tab?
In D2006 it is:
Borland Help>Developer Studio 2006 for Win32>Reference>VCL for Win32
(Delphi)>DateUtils>Routines
I assume it is something similar in D2007.

Re:Using Help

no, that doesn't help.
For those with D2007, try searching on a known Delphi date function and see
what you get .. everything except what you are looking for. I am sure its
just me but if anyone knows the secret trick please share it.
Perhaps those functions aren't in the help. If you search for "now" funciton
you get VB(Visual Basic) and something else.

Re:Using Help

Hi Del,
Are you actually using search? I find using the index is easier, and
produces
better results. For the longest time I had a really hard time remembering
that
the index is on the bottom, not the top like in D7.

The help index is hosed. You actually have to know what unit the
function is in to see it. I reported this in the first week and have
since heard that it'll be fixed in the first update.

Ok, I have just started Delphi 2007, selected the File | New | VCL Forms
Application - Delphi for Win32 menu, double clicked on the form (which
created a handler for the form's OnCreate event), typed 'date' and pressed
F1. Delphi 2007 returns lost of entries including the first one which title is
'SysUtils.Date Function' and location is 'Delphi 2007 VCL Win32 Reference'.
I believe this is what you are after, no?

1. Wait a day or two.
2. Download the Delphi 2007 Update 1
3. Set the filters on the new help to limit things to only Delphi.

Re:Using Help

Larry,
I have been using the index. It appears it might be broken but at least one
suggestion is worth a try .. thanks to Alan Garny in GB .. I will give it a go
and post the results here.

Nick, any chance of getting 'just' a Help Update for Turbo D2006? Mine's completely hosed.

Re:Using Help

That sound like a roadmap to me :-)
