Hello,
we meet a problem with Vista and IB7.5.
We cannot attach a local database (c:\MyBase.ib).
So we find 2 solutions,
->we attach the database by a ip syntax (localhost:c:/MyBase.ib)
->run ibmgr32, unchech "run the interbase server as a service on windows
nt"
As anyone has any solution for attach a local database normally ...
Thank's for response
Arno

No. Vista does not allow local connections via memory mapped files.

Re:Vista & IB7.5

Note that local connections work with the latest version of InterBase 2007.

Re:Vista & IB7.5

Yes but we need that it works with IB7.5
We bought some IB7.5 servers a few month ago and it doesn't work on Vista !
No update, no solution !
The only solution is to install IB2007 ?
I can not buy or say to our customer, you had tu buy "Ib2007 licence server
and licence clients" because of vista !
The licence client IB7.5 doessn't work with IB2007 so it is not cheaper !

In that case you knew -- or could have known, if you looked -- at the
time you purchased the license that IB 7.5 did not support Vista.
Moreover, it is practically a rule that:
1) Few if any products ever support OSs released after the product
itself, and
2) No product not specifically designed for Vista is likely to work on
Vista without complications.
If you (or your customer) have never installed IB 7.5 then you may be
able to ask CodeGear for a refund / exchange of the software so that
you can get 2007 instead. There is no official policy saying they have
to do this, so I would suggest asking very nicely.
If you have installed the software, however, you're going to have to
upgrade.

It works, but (1) it is not a supported configuration and (2) local
connections don't work and (3) running IB as an application probably
won't work if UAC is turned on and (4) Server Manager is close to
useless unless manifested (some would argue it is close to useless
anyway...).
In short, if you must use this configuration, run the server as a
service and make a "remote" connection.

Seems to work fine.
