I got this e mail from CodeGear in connection with Delphi seminar in India
during end Feb

Delphi
Due to overwhelming customer demand, CodeGear will release in March a new
version of the award-winning Delphi product line focused on native Windows
development. With enhancements such as support for the VistaT operating
system, project build improvements, new database technologies, to name just
a few, here is your chance for a first look at this much anticipated
release.
RAD Web Development with PHP
CodeGear expects that this announcement will take many people by surprise.
To be launched at this seminar will be a brand new product line, a Rapid
Application Development (RAD) environment that will revolutionize PHP web
development. With all the benefits you've come to expect from Delphi's RAD
environment and component framework, this product will become the premier
tool for developing PHP web applications. We will show you how simple it is
to create powerful and robust PHP web applications with this new tool.

You would really think that CodeGear would make these kind of public
announcements themselves......
Good news none the less. I can not wait to see the new product lines, even
if there is little chance of me being able to buy any of them.

I thought the overwhelming customer demand was bug-fixes, but I
guess I stand corrected. ;) This RAD PHP concept is interesting
to say the least. Wonder how it'll pan out. Wonder if it'd be something
like DreamWeaver or Komodo?

I'm __guessing__ that it will be something *exactly* like Qadram QStudio.
If so I just wish the dotting of the i's and crossing of the t's hadn't held
up the promised December release. I would love to have gotten my hands on it to
play with (haven't even played with PHP before, but it is caught my interest).
If it *is* QStudio, I wonder if CodeGear will be sticking to the QStudio
pricing model (i.e. FREE!) lol
Honestly, I don't know if Delphi4PHP *is*/was QStudio or not. But it is a
strikingly likely explanation for a) why QStudio didnt appear when scheduled
at the end of last year and b) how CodeGear were able to produce a "Delphi for
PHP" from a standing start in so little time.
Or it could be a case of 2 + 2 = 5 (with this case providing sufficiently
large values of 2). <shrug>
Interesting times, although I concur with the slight misgivings that these
announcements are coming out (seeping out, perhaps would be more accurate) the
way they are, whilst the CodeGear web site remains (so far) singularly devoid
of any "News" (and the Native Dev focus and PHP tool set sure as heck *is*
NEWS!).

Two possible reasons -
1. Due to perverse human nature, leaked news (like secrets) is sure to
travel further and faster than information that is made public through the
normal channels.
2. The news is being field tested here before it is released ;-)

I hope the price is right. I'd not hesitate to buy
the product. Hopefully, it will be well engineered like
the "almighty" Delphi!

We're looking into it. This is not official news from CodeGear, if it we're
you'd hear about it from us first or they would cite permission from
CodeGear (such as Bob Swart or Marco have). Seems that someone made a
mistake somewhere (and someone made one last week too <g>) -m
Couldn't these "leak mistakes" be on purpose? <g>
