Not champagne. My policy is to fix reproducible problems ASAP. If they are
on an earlier version that usually entails giving a free upgrade - far
easier for me than retrofitting and the customer is happier with the bonus
anyway.
I have also given customers complimentary upgrades in the past if they have
gone to the effort of making a suggestion for an improvement that I have
incorporated in a later version.
After posting the original message it occurred to me that perhaps I should
publicise this 'fix or replace' policy more. It certainly encourages me to
buy particular software if I have confidence that it is robust and reliable.

Actually, "Champagne" is a brand. If it doesn't come from the Champagne
province in France, it is only another sparkling white wine:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Champagne,_France
The localization of the province is too large on the map. Champagne is
only produced in few towns.
Here is a better map:

I think that is a pretty universally known fact but in common parlance, it's
often ignored. People generally refer to anything that is Champagne "style"
as Champagne. I certainly do. it is like calling tissues Kleenex. Who cares
what Kleenex thinks?

It's more than just a brand in the EU, it is a "protected trade
designation" thing via various treaties - it is not like it can fall into
common use like a trademark!

Sure. that is so companies can not misrepresent. Wine associations (and/or
governments) in many parts of the world have reciprocol agreements regarding
that sort of thing for wine labelling. I still call Champagne style wine as
Champagne, Scottish style whiskey is Scotch and I blow my nose with Kleenex.

I'll admit I draw the line at American Cheese. You don't want to know what I
call it.
Getting back on topic... Go Delphi! <g>
