my question is:

is there any way to work with multiple result sets
in ms-sql?
[From within d5 and BDE]

Using the BDE, no, ADO, yes (check out NextRecordSet in Delphi's help).

Do you mean multiple result sets within one data set? If you have
master-detail relationships, you can use the TClientDataSet. It handles
multiple nested record sets, (provided that you don't save them to disk and
try to reload as xml...there's a bug in the field links code that prevents
reloading the xml). Check out the Help on client data sets...it's pretty
flexible.
