I don't think so, and even if it was how is this download
helping it?
It's just the same material that is in Delphi 2007 in a different
format - that can not be indexed/searched/filtered.
And doesn't link into the IDE.
Of course someone could add it to a HtmlHelp1 file but it
would still be missing a table of contents and an index.

1085 downloads within 1 day! And I guess the link is still
unknown to most Delphi users. It seems that there is a
real Help problem in Delphi 200x.

Re: Reminder to Nick-- Delphi 2007 help in other formats

What is your secret?
I have tried download since yesterday with IE6 and FireFox without any
luck. They are not even starting.
The same is with D2007.1 full installation disk except that Firefox
DownthemAll says after 160 Mb or 1.2 MB or 2,5 MB that 'ok! downloaded'.
BTW I just downloaded a couble of days ago a Linux disstribution (3 disks
about 750 Mb) without any problems (took about 4,5 hours).
How can you do it????

Could someone if they have a bit of spare time (with absolutely nothing
to do :) ) test this archive with 7z on Maximum. I'd be interested
in the resulting file size. If CG allow mirrors then maybe a 80Meg 7z
file might be easier to download.

Over the lunch i tried 7z, but that ate 1.5GB of RAM when it was about
16%, so i went to winrar and compresed to 52MB, seems pretty good to me.

Yes, I have tried it with D2006 - I extracted all the html files
and images out of the help system (don't remember which tool did it
right now, but I posted about it then, try Google).
I believe 7zip will extract HxS files.

Yep, seems to work.

One can use eg Google Desktop Search for indexing and searching.

It's way better then a help *cough* system which doesn't even start.
I installed Copernicus Search and it is seems to work quite nice, so that's
ok for me.
Until someone at CG compiles a list of steps (how to fix their help system
AND the installer) OR (how to clean reinstall BDS2006 without loosing all
settings), I am not giving it a one more single second, i allready wasted
enough time on that.
So in that sense i appreciate that i finally got some documentation to
BDS2006.
On the other and it is extremly horrible solution, and to be absolutely
honest BDS2006 is the worst application (in terms of workmanship) that i
*ever* had on my computer. I suppose it would go like this:
App | Time | Approx. no. of bugs found
Apache | 5years | 0
Nero | 5years | 1
Opera | 7years | 6
Delphi7 | 3years | 3
BDS2007 | 14days | 30
Yes and another one today, the help .css has no background color defined;
and it is not valid HTML either.

Are you saying that you can not install the help for BDS2006?
It may be well below scratch, but it has been working for me
since release.

I don't think that is CodeGear's fault, it is the tool their
using which produces those files automatically.

With all due respect, if I chose a tool that made my product do something
that did not work then it would be my fault my product did not work.

Quite agree, there is a supplier and there is a customer, supplier is
responsible for what he ships, if the product is bad, it is only his fault;
It's like n-tier application...

wrong. I import the page content of the html in MDB database ans create
some keys, then make a program to make the filters and unite similar
contents based on the filter.
for me work great. Maybe today i will eliminate al image refrence from
the data.
i compress it with 7z. I can upload it in codecentral if you like.

You can not use Ultra or you will be dead in the water. Maximum is the
highest setting I use on 7z. 52MB though sounds a lot better then
160MB.
