You mean like commenting on Delphi 8 usage without being a Delphi 8 user?

The reality is that the "best of the breed" are generally doing medicine or law.
The entry marks for both are far higher than for comp sci programs.
A comp sci degree doesn't seem to me to be very well correlated with being a
"best of breed" software developer.

Driving your car does NOT properly prepare you to comment on someone who
DOES drive a car for a living. While you might be able to be aware of
the hazards of traffic (for example), you would not be able to comment
on other aspects that might affect a UPS driver, a truck driver, a taxi
driver, or many others. There are many OTHER aspects of each job that
you will not have had the experience to comment on -- so while you're
correct, you can comment on how YOUR CAR performs, you would not be
suited to comment on those who drive cars for a living, and how YOUR CAR
might be appropriate/inappropriate to THEIR specific needs.
I take it that you don't vote in elections, since you have never done the
presidency or political representation for a living. What is your
qualification for commenting on those who do the presidency or political
representation for a living? Did you actually do those jobs for a living?

Technically Americans vote for an Elect{*word*203}Council, which votes for the
President. So you don't vote for the President, but for vastly more
experienced people (cough) who do.

True but not really relevant, since it is the belief that people are
qualfied to comment on the jobs of the president and congress that is the
salient point here. The analogy still stands.

Of course. I have always thought that only Economists should be allowed to
comment on the economy mind you :)

On a different note, didn't I read somewhere that maybe BCB isn't as
dead as it was used to be?
If it is dead maybe someone should tell the BCB team to stop working.

A comp sci degree doesn't seem to me to be very well correlated with being a
"best of breed" software developer.
The ones without a comp sci degree have even claim to call themselves best of
anything.

What are they working on ?
CBX or the next product that Borland wants to drop ?

The application of software to fields other than software constitutes
most of the commercial work out there. What claim does a comp sci
degree to expertise in finance, management, medical research, etc?
