You were coding 12-16 hours a day and this was a small proportion of the
total time spent developing software? You must have some very long days! ;)
I was developing software 12-16 hours a day, with the IDE open and in use
during that time. Most of that time was doing things that only result in typing
after a while.

I'll let people draw their own conclusions as to whether or not they
consider that an apology.
Please excuse me for listening for the uproarious laughter emanating
about that comment.
That he said his conclusion was "..clearly incorrect" and that he said
"Sorry for.." is pretty danged conclusive to me as an apology.

So I will take it we're referring to the same text then. In which case
your opinion is in no doubt. Let's leave others to make their own minds
up shall we?

I figured as much. Thought I would yank your chain a little!

Unless you see something I don't (and it is possible, I only spent 15
minutes looking), what Nick said was :

"I think that it was a reasonable conclusion from what you've said, but
clearly incorrect. Sorry for drawing the incorrect conclusion."

I'll let people draw their own conclusions as to whether or not they
consider that an apology.
Everybody that understands basic English will draw the same very obvious
conclusion. Sorry = Apology. Only trolls would pretend any other conclusion
is consistent with the English language.

Regardless of whether it is interpreted as an "apology" is irrelevant
anyway. The point is he acknowledged he was incorrect; something that
you have omitted every time you've mentioned it.

Why does this bother you so much, Dave? I clearly think Hodges'
'apology' was insincere, so why would I mention it?
Anyway, we have you here now to point out such grave miscarriages and
provide a more balanced perspective, don't we. :-)

I never said it does.

Omitting the fact that he acknowledged he was wrong (regardless of
whether it was an apology or not) makes your original statement
misleading.

In other words, his original statement was a kind of lie.

I read a reply by Dan to a different post. You ought to be more specific
than just saying "see so-and-so's reply". This thread has many threadlets,
and there are many threads in this newsgroup.
But in any event, you are still dead wrong about Nick's statements. He did
say he was wrong. You just have a hard time admitting it, and you love to
his misconstrue statements. Or rather attempt to. The only ones that fall
for your shananigans are those who are already hopelessly wedded to your
point of view.

It was an expression of regret, not an apology.
