What about the watch window? I use it a lot.

I would have used it less than a dozen times in the past decade.
While I'd hate to have to do without a Visual De{*word*81} it can be a very
time-consuming tool unless used wisely. I try to code defensively to avoid
problems occurring in the first place. To debug productively using a Visual
De{*word*81} you need to have a very good idea of what the problem is before you
start - otherwise it is like trying to chop down a tree with a razor blade.

I know how to debug. <g>

In that case you would be well aware that a watch window, although useful,
is not absolutely necessary for productive debugging. Therefore, is the lack
of an expression evaluator in the de{*word*81} a valid reason for dismissing the
concept of a Delphi VS.NET plug-in? I think not.

Depends on how you debug. In my experience, there are many cases where it
can be very advantageous to see the contents of selected variables on a
breakpoint.

So I do think it is absolutely necessary.
All groovy and such, but please vote for #7288.
I *think* Nick Hodges would vote for it too. Speak up sir. I thought this
was the gist of your web note from before.
If it will absolutely never happen, then I am sorry to say that my beloved
Delphi is gone from my development for future projects. And dammit, I too
love Delphi. (or Object Pascal, depending on your allusions)

Vote for QC #7288, hopefully they (QC folks) will fix my filing blunders

Sorry, I misunderstood you - because the original point was about expression
evaluation I thought that was what you were referring to.
I agree - it is necessary to see the contents of selected variables on a
breakpoint. However, the fact that I am able to do just that using the
Component Pascal plug-in compiler to VS.NET proves that it is not a
particular limitation of the VSIP capabilities.
An 'expression evaluator' is what Danny said was missing - that is what I
would not particularly miss. it is absence is hardly a showstopper.
