I am currently developing a rather complex application on an network
with NT 4.0, SQL 6.5 and Win95 workstations.
From reactions in the various user groups, I learned that this
combination is not without problems, primarily due to the lack of a
comprehensive set of documentation. (much of the issues have to be
derived from interpretations of Interbase documentation -- and often
is not working that way in SQL 6.5 ....) and to missing bits in pieces
(and even bugs) in Delphi C/S.
Wading through a number of newsgroups and the Borland Web Forum just
adds to the frustration and takes too much time.
Therefore I want to start up a MAILLIST (maybe moderated if the need
arises) where users of this combination (AND ONLY THIS) can share
their experiences, tricks, and good solutions. (To a certain extent
even their frustrations.)
Before actually starting this maillist, I want to get your reaction,
i.e. is there a need / demand for this type of forum, what do you
expect from it and what can YOU contribute ?
Depending on the outcome of this the maillist could be started (thanks
to the help of a student from the Brussels University) soon.
If resources can be found, the useful information from this maillist
could be bundled into a FAQ, eventually completed by Borland and
Microsoft. (or am I dreaming ??)
By the way, flaming, advocating, Bill Gates bashing etc ... will not
be allowed on the list. Contributors of this type of mail will be
removed from the list.
I hope to hear from you !
Thank you.
