Hi,

Does anyone know whether the free download of Delphi 6 can coexit
peacefully with Delphi 3 professional?

I don't have a spare Windows box to try it on and I can not risk
destroying my existing NT4 Delphi 3 pro setup at the moment.

Also, does anyone know of any sigificant advantages/disadvantages
of the D6 free download cf D3 Pro?

It looks safe to install D6.
Disadvantage : you can't do any database-stuff in PE; no Databasecomponents,
no BDE. You must do all the work yourself.
You may not sell any app compiled with PE, but you may give your apps away
(for free).

The ony problems I've encountered with different Delphi-versions on same
mahine, are:
- File extension registration (*.pas/*.dpr files now point to Delphi 6, if
you don't disable this option)
- BDE versions, be careful not to install BDE from the demo version if
existing
- ActiveX controls maay be overwritten by the newer version.

Sure, not a problem.  The only problem would be if you tried to install
another Delphi 6 (say, the trial version of Enterprise) -- one would
overwrite the Registry entries for the other.  No problem with different
version numbers, though.
