surely it is obvious that we shouldn't have to shut down the app, or use Note pad, to view the logs?" [add an extra menu option to view the logs in a memo, retest] "That's good, but if there is an alert, a log-viewer window that has been left open obscures the alert signal on the screen" [add a message to close the log window if an alert is signalled or after a minute of inactivity, retest] "That's good, but the log window does not show new log entries that are made while the window is open." [route log messages to the viewer form and add them to the memo, retest] "There's a bit of a problem - when the system is busy, the log viewer cannot be read because the logs scroll too fast" [sound of head repeatedly banging on keyboard] Rgds, Martin <g> |

Re: Testing real-time systems?QuoteI dunno, having the same project for years would probably drive me nuts whole ecosystem then. You can work on the same project all days of the week, and go from OPC'ing to an automaton, to Oracle administration quirks, to a cosmetic upgrade of a form, to extending a scripting language, designing a bunch of new classes in UML and then tweak low-level streams to a barcode printer over WiFi'ed RS232. Not to forget sorting out issues over the phone about deep frozen goat milk :) Eric |
