Mayday * Mayday * Maday - Delphi 2007 lost help system

Good morning @alll,
I yesterday had to re-install Delphi 2007 Enterprise because the help system
died on me.
Now - after de/re-installing the help system is still broken.
I get the error message "TPersistend" not found.
That's all ....
CAN ANYBODY HELP ?
Thanks
Nils
PS: Solved the problem with the still existing licence file. What else
do I have to uninstall ? Or Re-Install Windows XP ? (That was a joke).

Did you remove the .NET SDK? Or do you remember what other changes you
made to your system (adding/removing programs) between the working and
non-working stages?

Can you be more precise? Does that happen when you press F1? Or when you
go to Help->Help? Or both? Have you tried the "RAD Studio Documentation"
shortcut in the CodeGear's program folder?

Well, I recently reverted to an "old" ghost image of my C: drive with
nothing but Win+Office to re-install Delphi: had too much accumulated
garbage from previous BDS 2006 installation... In the process, I managed
to get my computer working much faster, at least until I added the AV!
:) But even then, it is still faster than was before, so it is always a
good move every 6 months or so! :)

I don't know if it still works in D2007, but in D2006 there was a
program called reghelp that shipped with Delphi.
try going to the command prompt and running
reghelp -7
reghelp 7

I wonder if this is related in any way to the Doc-O-matic tool they are now
using to generate the Help? Maybe that has some repair / diagnostic / Help
configuration features? You can download a 30-day trial from the D2007
Delphi Developers page.

I can reproduce killing the help by installing a third-party control that
modifies it, such as DevEx QG 6.

Are you searching for "TPersistend" or "TPersistent"? Because,
"TPersistend" doesn't exists.

That sounds interesting! Will definitely be looking into it! :)

Note also that GenHelpPro now comes with a free to
distribute HtmlHelp2 installer that works with CodeGear and
MS IDEs.

Hmmm... Looks like using a cannon to kill a tiny fly: too much work to
be worth it... Besides, only applies to Borland stuff, not to MS
stuff... Much easier to simply delete those folders and when needed
delete an additional file or two! :)

Re:Mayday * Mayday * Maday - Delphi 2007 lost help system

Okay,
here some more information, tzzz yes it is TPersistent ....
Now, the system is a clean Windows XP, Office 2007, all Windows Patches
installed,
Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite installed
Libs installed in Delphi 2007:
- DeveloperExpressVCLProducts Version 24
- Corelabs Oracle Components for Delphi 2007
That's all.
Here is a screen shot of the error:

Is there anyway to reactivate the Delphi help system ?
Thanks

If it is a question of re-registering it, try going to this folder:
C:\Program Files\CodeGear\RAD Studio\5.0\Help\Doc
and running H2Reg -r
(from a command prompt and change path to installed folder, of course!)
If it is more serious, then better log it in QC...

I found that in the elevatesoft newsgroup from Tim Young
To rectify the help issue in Delphi 2007 and restore the original
Delphi 2007 help, perform the following steps:
1) In the Delphi <InstallDir>\Help\Doc directory, run the following
command:
h2reg -u cmdfile=h2reg.ini
2) In the Delphi <InstallDir>\Help\Doc directory, run the following
command:
h2reg -r cmdfile=h2reg.ini
It worked for me
