Have you seen other applications in the category?

I've reverse-engineered parts of Peachtree Complete (nothing great,
IMHO), and I used an older version of MathCAD (groundbreaking, in its
day, but I couldn't tell you much about how it compares to similar
software available today).

That is an interesting category with IB, Peachtree Complete and MathCad all
lumped together.

While its nice for IB to get some recognition, I don't really understand the
grouping here. This category seems to include *applications* that provide
numerical features (e.g. Peachtree is known, AFAIK, for their accounting
software). How did IB get in here? Recognition for the wrong thing is, IMO,
worse than no recognition.

I'll be happy to change my opinion if it can be shown why IB belongs in this
group.

In case you want to do the rest of the maths:

<<Last year a total of 740 nominations from 340 companies rounded out the
preliminary round of the Codie Award competition. Learn more about the 41
categories and nominate your company today!>>

The income of between US$150,000 and US$240,000 (last year) must have been
needed to pay for the lunches and airfares for bringing the judges together
. . . <g>.

I was interested in the categories and who nominates the products.

On the site it says:

<<Unless noted in category descriptions, each product is eligible to be
nominated in up to three appropriate categories. Nomination costs are as
follows:
a.. SIIA Members: $200 per product, per category
  b.. Non-members: $325 per product, per category
  For example:
one product nominated in three categories would cost $600 for SIIA
Members, and $975 for Non-members.

Separate nomination forms must be submitted >>

So anyone can nominate their product in as many categories as they like as
long as they can pay US$200+ a pop.

It seems like a nice gig. I might put up a site like that myself and see if
people are going to pay me US$325 to nominate products for my now
forthcoming 'best software products' awards . . . <g>

I reckon if a couple of people nominate a week, that would be a tidy little
income stream for doing pretty much nothing, on the side . . .

I read:

?Unless noted in category descriptions, each product is eligible to be
nominated in up to three appropriate categories. Nomination costs are as
follows:

SIIA Members: $200 per product, per category
Non-members: $325 per product, per category

Is this a serious award, please? Since there are people that look at those
awards and someone had to pay to put IB there (I don't think you can suggest
it without paying), there should be a better category where it fits.

The award in the German magazine was much more important, IMHO.
