I keep getting err 200 when using CRT unit in dos under win95

This one is driving me crazy.

I have a fairly complex program that runs an experiment on colour
vision.  I have developed it in TP 7.0 with a specialist library of
timing units to measure reaction time to colours displayed on-screen.

When I try to compile this, or any other test, program under dos, or
run the program under dos i get a run time error 200 message (division
by zero).  This happens even when I comment out all of the program
code.  The problem goes away when I comment out the USES CRT unit.
However I need the CRT unit for the readkey and other procedures.

The program will compile without problem when running as a dos window
under win95, but the background cycles mean my timing is off (the
timer program library I use has msec accuracy), and so I need to run
it under dos.

I really don't want to take win 95 off my machine to run this in
vanilla DOS.

Any ideas?

Darren

If you were to read the group before asking, you would save us all,
including yourself, time.   See below.

Pascal Start-Up Error 200 on fast PCs when using the Crt unit is a VFAQ!

Not again. Could you please read some past messages about the issue,
possibly using Dejanews. It is not Win95 that cause it but the speed of
your computer.

Yeah, a "couple hundred" of these (covered in the FAQ!) queries is
about right - seems like more, though.  They seem to be proliferating,
what with the speed of machines going up and the costs really being
pushed down...<sigh>

I'm finally back again. Our news server was "on holiday" for two weeks. :-(
I hope I didn't miss too many of these postings, perhaps only one or two
hunred of them... ;-)

One solution to this FAQ is on my page...
