Is there any support for BDE?

Where/Who can I ask about a BDE defect?  Will Borland help?  If so, does anyone have a phone number?

...I'm really grasping at straws now....

Re:Is there any support for BDE?

The BDE is a supported product so you can call Borland Tech Support and open
an incident for your problem.

Re:Is there any support for BDE?

Bill,

According to Michael at Borland support, the BDE is not a supported product.  That is, Borland does not have any engineers dedicated to the BDE.  I may be able to get help via the Delphi engineers because my app is D5 with the BDE.

Now that I have your attention, could you please look at my post "BDE defect" and give me some insight?

Thanks.

Michael is wrong then, because I know the R&D engineer who is in charge of the
BDE.  It is only one engineer for the maintenance mode product, but there is a
R&D person working on the BDE (not his sole responsibility).

As Jeff said, he's plain wrong, the BDE is supported by Borland.  It's
in maintenance mode--not in "no longer supported" mode.  I'd call back
and explain the situation and ask to speak with the supervisor of
whomever answers.

You should also try posting your problem here.  Team B or others may be
able to help you out.

What exactly does Maintenance mode mean?  If my BDE issue really is a defect; is it possible the BDE might be patched?

When I phone Tech Support, how do I reach the R&D guy for the BDE?...or will I speak to a Delphi Engineer?

Thanks for your quick response...

Re:Is there any support for BDE?

I have posted my problem here twice before.  The only people I have heard from are ones that are in paddling this boat with me.  My message is about 3 below this one.  The subject line is BDE Defect?

I'd appreciate any help I could get.  I will try to iron out my problem here in the newsgroup first.  As a last resort I will phone and try to reach a BDE guru.

Thanks again.

Re:Is there any support for BDE?

He was talking about a support engineer.

Michael is wrong. The BDE is a supported product. There is no dedicated team
of support engineers for the BDE and never has been. It is supported by the
product group engineers of the products that use it so, in your case, you
should be talking to Delphi support.

See my reply to your other post.

Maintenance mode means that they are supporting it, but they aren't
doing any active development on it.

patched?

They might (although it would be rare) fix a bug or two in an update.
They might even add a minor new feature (like IB 6 Dialect 3 support),
but that's also not very likely.

You'll speak with a support enginerror.  I don't think they let people
talk to R&D (if they did, R&D wouldn't be researching and
developing--they'd be supporting <g>).
