What do you mean by "timed out"?
PS. Tests you've done before UTC 17 are included in the log file.

I finally aborted the test because none of the tests 'users' were
getting a response back after 5 minutes..

Btw ... looking at the log file, I see someone was requesting the file
"/index.html", which is not located on the Server (server was responding
with "404: Not Found"). The index I have used is "index.htm" (without the "l"
at the end), but you can access it using the "/" (root) request, like:
www.realthinclient.com

That is strange. I was running the File_Client demo and constantly
requesting the "/$time" (average response time was 30 ms) to monitor the
number of active connections during the test, but I didn't notice any
problems. Can it be that there was something wrong with the Test Tool or
your internet connection? The Server didn't show any hick-ups (see my
uploaded log file).

I was using "www.realthinclient.com/" at UTC 17...

Probably the test tool - inet connection was fine.
Trying 5000 simultaneous users {*word*88}d it I bet, lol!

What was your IP address? I see a number of requests for the "/" file were
coming in from IP 212.80.236.161 and have received a response, according to
Servers log file.

Wow! 5.000 connections from a single client? If that tool uses a separate
thread per connection, it must have bumped into a Windows limit of max 2.000
active threads. I guess, you should have stayed at 500 connections.
Btw ... what tool were you using?

Re: Try and shoot the RTC WebServer down!

Anyone interested in repeating the RTC stress-test?
I'm open to suggestions about the best date and time.

Their webpage says "10.000 concurrent users",
but the tool {*word*88} trying to emulate 5.000 ;-)
I've tried their demo a few months back,
but it didn't generate mentionable load,
so I didn't go for the commercial version.
I guess, I should write a stress-tool with RTC.
At least, it won't {*word*88} at 5.000 connections.

Ah, but mine is a 2001 version, they are now up to v7 to be fair.

Re: Try and shoot the RTC WebServer down!

Ever tried using the free tool from MS?
support.microsoft.com/kb/231282/en-us
I will download it now and give it a try. If it works, we could repeat the
test tomorrow. If all participants would be using a stress-tool, we could
generate a lot more load on the Server (not "only" 1.200 connections).

Hmm ... no luck using that tool.
I guess, I will have to write my own, using RTC.
