Diamondback can generate CF-compatible assemblies and executables

So Bryan, you will be able to compile code, however, MS have not yet
released the code for designers or debugging support. You should be able
to target both PDAs and phones running the SmartPhone edition of PPC (or
whatever the longwinded name is) using the Compact Framework.
You will never (IMO) be able to target PalmOS or Symbian devices using
Delphi.

Do you have to use Winforms for CF, or can you use VCL?

--Rob McDonell
The VCL.NET uses P/Invoke to call Win32 DLLs, so that is not a
possibility. I don't know if you can use WinForms.

Winforms, taking careful note of what is not supported by the CF.
I would be surprised if VCL worked, as ultimately there are pinvokes
going on, and the PPC API is very definitely not the same as for a
desktop version of Windows.

Yes, it is.

Jim already answered. The demo Danny and I put together a few years ago
used WinForms with careful lack of advanced features.

I hope so too, from a purely selfish POV. I am not convinced it would
make business sense for Borland to do that though :(

Depends on what happens to PalmOS and Symbian, too.

palm+symbian=big share of mobile phone and pda market.
and to be honest with you that market is a bit bigger than the windows market i
would say. I would expect a steep rise for the need of good development tools with
the upcoming smarter phones, which are already faster than you desktop pc 5
years ago :)

Of course. I have my doubts about the size of the developer market
though. Some people are already making money from PalmOS tools, for
instance, but they are very small companies, by and large (is that an
oxymoron? <g>)
