Just got this story off BBC: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7330619.stm
How is this going to affect the economy in the US? Given that the
dollar is doing badly compared to a lot of other currencies, are
things going to get any worse?

Given the dollar is losing value among other currencies, it could
change things for better - since it'll cheap the cost of american
workers for foreigner contractors.
So, you can ending getting more work.
