Really huge floating point numbers

Does anyone have any idea on how to come up with a routine that will handle
reallly long floating point numbers that can then be searched through? I
would be using it to calculate Pi to about 50 million decimal places.

Sounds like you need to use/design an "infinite precision" routine.  One
implementation uses a linked list to store the numeric representation,
plus procedures for doing the elementary arithmetic operations.  Still,
searching through 50 million decimal positions will not be easy ...
