TP7 wants to shut down windows - why?

I just installed Turbo Pascal 7 on my machine (450 Mhz NEC - IBM Clone with
Win 98) and when I run the ide, it wants to shut down windows and run in
pure Dos. How, if possible, can you get it to run is a dos box under
windows?

To me it sounds like in the file properties (for TP7) the Tab is
enabled so it asks you to run in DOS mode. If that's the case then
you'll need to go into the file properties & disable it. You do this
by selecting the file & then right mouse click & select properties. If
you running TP7 from a shortcut file then you may need to edit the
shortcut (to disable it from there).

Or if your just not sure about that you can always make a DOS bootup
disk which saves the time of booting up Windoze (just to exit back to
DOS!).

Good Luck!

Ross.

Either Right-Mouse-Click the Turbo Pacal Icon Choose Properites -or- use the
"Windows Explorer" and choose the Turbo Pascal Icon - Highlight - then choose
File Properties, then make the following changes:

Program - Advanced - UNCHECK "MS-DOS mode";
CHECK "Suggeest MS-DOS mode as necessary"

Click OK - OK and you should be all set. 8-)~

Rename it.

Windows 95 & 98 have a list of programs in their registry, which they
know of as "DOS" programs. If you try to run a program called
TURBO.EXE, the OS will say "I know him, he's a DOS program, we have to
go to DOS". But if you rename it to TURBOT.EXE (for example), it runs
fine.

Alternatively you could edit your registry. But I think renaming it is
easier.

Yep, that worked.

Thanks!
