Installshield Express Delphi Edition - Works????

I'm attempting to distribute a Delphi 2.0 application along
with the BDE and 2 aliases with the shipping Installshield
Express that came with Delphi 2.0x.

It appears to have a problem 'merging' configuration
files and fails continuously leaving the Win95 registry
pointing to an empty BDE config file. I've read the
installshield white paper on it and their help has
been less than coherent so far.

Has ANYONE installed a Delphi app with Installshield
express that includes the BDE and aliases? It appears
that if my users run it more than once it will corrupt
their BDE.

Any help or tips would be appreciated and I'll keep
hammering on the Installshield newsgroups as well

(I know WISE install is a fine product but just don't
want to purchase something that I though I already
had with Delphi Desktop!!!).

Re:Installshield Express Delphi Edition - Works????

I have successfully redistributed Delphi 2.0 application using Delphi 2.0
CD-ROM version of InstallShield. Strict attention must be paid to the
setting of the target directory and aliases; assuming that both
application and databases are placed in the target directory. Also the
full BDE must be deployed. Almost all other settings are left as default
values. The single ODBC32 DLL file that is not found by InstallShield can
be deleted from the BDE group. Manually include the database files in the
Program Files group.

Thanks for your reply! There may be hope yet! Are you able to
'test run' the install on your machine as well? On mine it
fails on the config file merge and corrupts the registry entry when
I test it on my own machine.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'strict attention' to target
directory and aliases but I do set both explicitly. I'll give it
another whirl though and check my values again.

Thanks,
 Mike
