installing Delphi 4 Prof under Windows 98?

Is it possible to install Delphi 4 Professional under Windows 98?

During the installation there are no errors, but when I try to start Delphi
(after restarting the
computer) it shows the splash screen but then Delphi hangs.
Does anyone know it is possible and how to get it working?

please also email me at le...@worldonline.nl

Thanks
Richard

Have you got an S3 Virge graphics card installed ?

If so try turning hardware acceleration down in my computer.

Hello :)

Probably you have problems with your graphics card (especialy if you
are using card based on S3).
I use D4 Pro on Win 38 without problems.

Try to find new drivers for your graphic cards (on the Internet site
of your card's vendor) OR slow down hardware acceleration of your card
(Display -> Propertties -> Setings -> Advanced -> ...) I'm on NT now
so don't know exactly all parameters but you should find acceleration
somewhere as I described you.

I don't know what other problems could be...

I'm having the same problem on my Win95 machine.. I bought D4Pro a few months
ago, but due to
work, I never got a chance to really sit down and reacquaint myself with
delphi.  I had it installed
on this machine with no problem, but after suffering a HD wipeout(due to a
virus), I had to reinstall
everything.  Now Delphi installs but won't load.  Now that I know it's S3
related(using a S3 Virge
325 chip based graphics card), it decreases my focus entirely on how to get it
working with
the graphics chip.  I checked the S3 webpage, but I'm not sure which driver I'm
supposed to d/l.

Any ideas?  While there is one driver there for Win95/98 systems, I'm not sure
that's the one
I'm supposed to download.

any help appreciated.

Thanks

Have you tried running your current driver in 256 colours?
