Thank you for the patch but it doesn't fix the problem, I still can't
operate the trial. I've also tried to run it on a different machine with
win98 and the installation hangs, any ideas?

Check the usual stuff:

Do you have more than adequate disk space?
Do you have ample RAM?
Is your CD-ROM driver (if you are installing from a CD) the
    latest you can get?
