Isn't it better to make a stable Delphi 7.5 and a stable Delphi 8.5
available ??
Not for Borlands profit margin.

Currently we are compiling a win32 apps using D7. I like Delphi 7 the only
problem I have is
the treeview in the Program Manager. It dosen't sort and you can not make
path changes directly in
The sorting issue has been fixed in the Delphi 7 update 1. You can
download it free from Borland if you are a Delphi Developer of D7.
But beware, there have been some reports of problems with the update.
You can search info on them here or in the QC. I personally haven't had
any problems and I am *very* glad to have the sorting back.
And the empty-item-in-combobox issue fixed.

Re: Delphi 8 & win32 binaries

I hope the DotNet does not need to be installed for those merely wishing
to produce Win32 executables. Borland wants to rake in good sales, not
witness a large number of people remain with Delphi 7.

Yes, D9 is planned to have Win32+.NET in the same IDE...

I am afraid there is not way around that. .NET will be a must...

Why dont you want to have the .NET framework installed on your machine?

Personally I have something better to fill up my HD. Actually almost anything is better than another useless monster.

#1 - to ensure there are no Win32 dependencies on it, since I am
generating only Win32 executables anymore
#2 - I have a feeling the IDE is going to be warped with .Net in a way
that will make it sluggish
#3 - Better to just keep the Delphi IDE lean and mean for those that
just need to generate Win32 executables.

Not for Borlands profit margin.
You say that like its a bad thing for Borland to make a profit.

Is Borland planning to upgrade Delphi 8 so it is able to compile both
.net and win32 binary files. Or will Delphi 7 be the last version with
win32 compile capabilities?

If Borland is planning to add win32 support, what is the estimated
time-frame for this release?
AFAIK, Borland will have Win32 and .NET support in the next version of
Delphi.
