Congrats to CG website and Excessive blog

- I like the new website a lot. it is (in a positive way) simple and I find
things. Very well done, imho!
- I also liked blog comments from Excessive and others on Nick Hodge's "Why
we use the .net framework for our IDE". Entries which I like especially well
are towards the end, e.g.
blogs.codegear.com/nickhodges/archive/2006/12/14/30532.aspx and
the next.
blogs.codegear.com/nickhodges/archive/2006/12/14/30532.aspx and
the 4 next messsages.
It's funny to see that the most determined .net proponent uses the MS
toolset (it's only rational I think). And less funny to see people move to
FP because CG (currently?) isn't able to deliver what is needed.
CG said to be about a lot more than (native) Delphi. This is fine, but for
Perl, Rails, Python, PHP there are plenty of good and even crossplatform
possibilities right now. And I am not so likely to come for these things to
CG if it is not together with my core needs which (increasingly in future!)
include native linux capabilities.
It's good to hear about the native unicode plan!
Thanks,
Hans-Peter

I second the opinion. I love the new web site. Not at all confusing,
like the Borland web site was. I can actually find stuff on Delphi now
without spending 75% of time on the web site searching for what I
know must be there somewhere.

That means they are focusing more on the developers.

Yep, Delphi is mentioned on the main page!

At least with the COdeGear site it is obvious what the company does.
With borland.com it is so abstract and full of marketing speak it
doesn't mean anything to a developer.

I agree! I think the new site is
1) Great
2) Great
3) Great
<g>
It is like I had hoped it to be, no silly people staring at me, having
nothing to do with the products, no "life style" graphics also having
nothing to do with the products.
Just giving the new site a brief look, and browsing through it, I find
it intuitive and easy to navigate. What a relief compared to certain
other pages!
So, we did not have to wait that long, after all, I am even more
enthusiastic about CodeGear seeing this new site!
Technically, I certainly have a few comments. Personally I detest drop
down menus on web sites, but that is me. And why someone want to treat
themselves so bad using tables on a new web site made in 2006 (almost
2007) is beyond my understanding. But hey - I am the user, not the
developer, so what me worry? <g>

I have to agree. I was able to find useful stuff in no time at all. It was
always a real chore on the Borland site.
Way to go, CodeGear!
