Case sensitive tablenames ? (Oracle8/BDE 5.01/Native)

Can anybody please confirm this.

For requestlive queries our tablenames are CASE SENSITIVE.
We create all our tables in uppercase and need to put the tablename in
uppercase in order to get a result.

Is there a way to turn this off.
