Interbase - Where do I start?

I recently posted a problem we are having with Paradox tables over the
network.  Having read the discussions about the limitations of Paradox, I'm
thinking that it may be time to bite the bullet and go for Interbase.

My question is, where do I start?  How different is it from Paradox?  Any
web sites that have help on the topic??

Re:Interbase - Where do I start?

You can get InterBase 6 several different ways.

1) It is on the D6 CD.
2) You can download an evaluation version from www.borland.com/interbase.
3) You can download the open source version from http://mers.com.

You can download the full set of manuals in PDF format from
http://www.borland.com/techpubs/interbase/ (download the IB 6 beta
documentation set).

All SQL database servers are different from Paradox in that they are
designed to let you work with sets of records returned by a SQL SELECT
statement, not with entire tables at one time. The
borland.public.interbase.general newsgroup is a good place to go for help.

As well as Bill's suggestions, visit the IB Phoenix (www.ibphoenix.com) web
site. You will find good information there as well as tools and utilities to
help convert tables and data, etc.
