D2005 is great! VS 2003 is {*word*99}!

Got your attention huh?
Anyway.. just to try to balance all the negative D2005 feedback with some negative VS 2003 feedback.
Cant even copy/paste in VS 2003 code editor (C/C++ personality)... sometimes it works... most often it doesnt.
Its much more annoying than anything I have encountered in D2005.
How to code without copy/paste is a mystery to me.
Horrible.

Yeh... wise guy :)
... but pretty difficult to inherit function prototypes which needs changes to their names, parameters, etc...
Trying to save some typing...
Coding using some libraries that have lots of long cryptic names, macros and stuff (C code) where retyping the names and
identifiers results in a significantly degraded coding performance....

I was only kidding. <g>
It is almost impossible to use an editor that can not copy or paste. Even
Edlin had that capability, IIRC. <vbg>

Works on my machine. You must be doing something wrong.

The only wrong thing he does is that he actually trying to use it :-)

Re:D2005 is great! VS 2003 is {*word*99}!

Clean installation on a cleanly installed OS.... cant really see what I can do wrong.
And if you search on the ms newsgroups you will see several others having same problem... without a beep from MS about
how to solve or circumvent.
Only thing I did read somewhere is that seemingly they have confirmed it as a bug... and it would be fixed in the next
version... ie.. 2005 which imo is alot more arrogant approach than what Borland have ever showed regarding D2005.

Maybe it is the hardware problem, then.

Re:D2005 is great! VS 2003 is {*word*99}!

Seriously doubt that.
Cut/Copy/paste works fine in all other apps... Notepad, Wordpad etc.
And again... MS has confirmed a bug, but not a workaround except.. buy next version.

Well Delphi also have it is ups and downs....
See: qc.borland.com/wc/qcmain.aspx
Yes I know... it is not the code editor but is certainly reduce
productivity...
Also qc.borland.com/wc/qcmain.aspx is annoying.

Hi,

I know... but simple copy/paste is probably one of the most used features of any IDE after actually accepting typed
text.
So imo much more serious than anything D2005 have offeret until now.

Indeed it is - my findings is the same issue, but only for the Object
Inspector....

You can not copy/paste in the Delphi 7 object inspector using hte right context
menu.
Seems to be a similarly serious issue.

Not at all.
Not being able to copy/paste in the OI and not being able to copy/paste
in the editor are not exactly of the same scale, IMO. I can not remember
ever having missed copy or paste in the OI. I'd immediately delete an
editor not capable of it.
