If you select a component on the component palette, and try to get it is help
(by pressing F1); help on the component doesn't appear.

Also: dragging component categories should show an insertion bar where the
section will be placed

Also: dragging component categories should be cancellable via Esc.

Feel free to tell me it is already in QC; or you can add it to QC yourself.

Well, Ian, I can sum it all up in one statement.
Borland used Microsoft's components for Delphi8.
The Palette, the editor, the OI. They {*word*75}ed themselves out
to MS to get this thing out the door instead of writing their
own.
I have some very big issues with the VS.Net UI. It is horrible
and not very well thought out for a major development product.
It is too clunky and difficult to use and Delphi 8 is EXACTLY like it.
There's no use in {*word*75}ing about it here, they aren't going to listen
via this channel and I suspect, they aren't going to change anything
at all because of the fact that they are using MS's controls.

Actually, only the form designer is MS's. The rest is Borland's.

NOT...
I know that some of the component editors are Microsoft's, see my post
in b.p.d.netpreview.non-tech oncerning the ImageList Editor.
I would venture to say that the OI is, too, because it is almost exactly
the same.

Actually, I like VS.Net's Palette better than D8's, it is more
Delphi'ish that the {*word*99}py one in D8.

They used MS Windows Forms designer, like all other IDEs. For their own
framework (VCL), they use their own designer.

No, the palette, editor and OI are their own. Only the designer is not.

Yes, that may be. The component editors for MS' components are also by MS.

I think Nick was referring not to the entire product but rather the
specific examples you cited. In particular, the editor and the OI.

I'm unfamiliar with this use of "{*word*75}ed". In the UK, "{*word*75}ed" means
moaned, whinged, etc.....
Do you mean "{*word*75}ed" as in {*word*41}d, sold themselves, etc?
BTW, as Nick says, the Object Inspector and code editor are Borland's. The
"bin" directory even contains YOTEC (boreditu.dll) just to prove it......

Yes, but the standard editors are part of the framework anyway, so this is
what you'd expect.

I also like Corbin's palette, although I prefer to use one of the more
restrained colour schemes. The Vs.NET palette is big and ugly.

Only the form designer. What is klunky about the Palette, (code) editor,
and OI?

Palette-you can not dock it to the Application bar like in other Delphi
versions. I, personally hate the layout, I would like a tabbed interface
again.
OI, keys don't seem to work the same as in the other OIs.
Editor, totally messed up, I hate it, with the exception of the code
folding, which I think should have been added to the Delphi editor LONG
AGO.
Is there any way to get rid of the "Welcome Page"???
