Searching Newsgroup Archives

I've been using newsgroups for a few months now though Windows Mail on
Vista, but it only keeps a limited number of messages, I think it is deleting
old ones. Has anyone else run across this problem before and know how to
fix it?
Since obviously I don't have all the posts to the newsgroup what is the best
way to search the newsgroup messages for a specific thing such as
'FloatingDockSiteClass', is there some way you can do it online at
newsgroups.borland.com? I always want to search first rather than posting a
new thread but I don't know how to search the archives.

You could use XanaNews for your reader.
Else (and) search online archives:
groups.google.com
fulltextsearch.com/

Nothing to fix, these newsgroups only keep history for a fairly short
period. In this group (non-tech) there is only, at most, about a month. The
technical groups vary but are generally somewhat longer.
These groups are captured by google though, so you can search back several
years from this page:

I use a old version Forte Free agent and have archives that
go back 8 years before I get tried and just delete them.

Well thanks for the suggestions everyone, I have checked them all out and the
simplest seems to be to use google groups when I want to do a search.
Oh, one more thing, I can not remember when replying to messages are we
supposed to post above or below the replied message?

Re:Searching Newsgroup Archives

You might like have a look at the web interface at delphi.newswhat.com
(what i use to read and post messages/threads) or dev.newswhat.com(beta
but pherhaps better). There is an archive search box but last time I
looked it didn't work properly (the returned links pointed to missing
pages if i remember correctly).

Most people prefer bottom posters

Bottom or inline is preferred.

Here is a URLSearch enhancement for IE and FF that will let you type
your seach in the address bar, i.e. tamd Listview Peter Below
will find all posts with words Listview and Peter Below in them
save this as a reg file and import it.
