BDE and Windows 98 + Client32

Does anyone have any tips for using BDE with files on a Netware volume?
(Netware 5, Windows 98 SE, Client 32).

When the application using BDE tries to open a file on the Netware drive it
gets errors like "invalid file name" and "file in use".  When the file is on
a local drive or a shared Windows drive, there are no problems.  Is there
any FAQ or tip sheet for troubleshooting this?  And yes, long file name
support is loaded on the server.

Thanks for any tips.

Neil

Make sure you have the service packs for the NetWare client installed.

Hi,

Check out the client, older clients have problems, with NWClient 4.81 it has
to work. How did you install it be BDE on you server and make sure all
machines
are pointing the the correct BDE directory. It's possible to install the BDE
on a
central Novell server. Wait....i'll send you a .pdf file which contains a
summerie
Novell install. Works within our corparated network with a Netware 5.x
cluster
environment and about 200-250 cuncurren BDE users.....never had problems and
did also with a little trick some test version for BDE applications.

Greetings Peter

The client was downloaded just a few months ago, but I can download it
again.  Thanks for sending the PDF. I'll look forward to it.

IIRC the current version of the Novell client is 4.83 and you _must_
download and install the service pack for it from Novell's web site
for it to work correctly.

Re:BDE and Windows 98 + Client32

Thanks for the reply.  Novell lists the current client32 for 95/98 as 3.32.
The 4.83 version is for NT/2K/XP.
