Big new web site dedicated to Pascal.

Hi

'The Pascal Node' is big new web site dedicated only to pascal
programming. There are already over 170 pascal sources in 8 categories
free to download, plus some articles (we are still gathering material)
about programming. There's also a search engine under construction
that will be used only for pascal related web sites.

The page is available in three versions: html + java, html + images
and plain html with no images for textmode browsers.

Check it out at

http://come.to/pascalnode

I checked it out - and I can't read it!  The font you use is so tiny
(and hard to pick up from the black background) that it's too difficult
to see what's available on your site.  (I have a 17" monitor.)
If you want this site used (and augmented by visitors), you'll be well
served to eschew the small fonts and use something that's readable by
users.  There seems no justification for the font size you're using,
given the type of information you're displaying.

Re:Big new web site dedicated to Pascal.

Either put up or shutup!
all your page has is:
Click the desired option to enter the page

 - Stylesheet and Javascript enhanced (Netscape 4.5+ and IE 4.0+)
 - Standard HTML with tables and images (Netscape, IE, Opera, etc.)
 - Plain HTML (Lynx, other textmode browsers)

and pop ups>> get out your no pascal programmer!

It's guys like you that pollute the digital community.
I hate to pay others for banners so they can waste my time!

Banners?  How is a site supposed to remain free without advertising?
Otherwise, web hosting costs at _least_ $120 a year.
If you want unobtrusive advertising (a thin banner frame at the top),
put the page up on XOOM.com.  Only catch: XOOM.com pages don't work
on Mozilla (Netscape 5/6) or some versions of WebTV.

An "html + images" site works fine in the text browser `w3m' if it
has an "alt" description in each <img> tag.

For example:
  <img src="biglogo.png" alt="The Pascal Node"
       width="300" height="150">

I have to disagree with the others on this one. Pretty good site, although
you say "dedicated only to pascal" - I saw some C code on there.

Well said....
Besides, he should have spoken with a different tone rather than shouting
and accusing someone of what they aren't (he could be a Pascal programmer
and still not be good with HTML pages or hasn't found time to put some code
up)

Well, you've made a start but 'big' is not what I would currently
describe it considering the resources and links provided by Franz
Glaser, Jeroen Prins, to name but two.

I would strongly suggest you increase your font size and also not
use green on black as it is difficult to read - even on my 19" at
640x480 when I switched.

Your redirection service also timed out here for about an hour of
trying. Perhaps using the real URL might help.

It is outdated. Still says that FPC 0.99.12b is the newest version.
0.99.14 is out, and some month after that came 0.99.14a.

Re:Big new web site dedicated to Pascal.

I don't use FPC so that doesn't bother me...
