D6 PE/D7 PE and dataset

hello
some time ago, i tried to add dataset components to D6 PE
i followed these ways:

1) use the source of D4 pro
   pros: borland compatible
cons: must have D4/D5 pro and modified source cant be shared
i don't find how to rebuild the database components
in the palette.  seem that somes sources are not
   given by borland.
where is the unit with the register procedures?

2) install freeclx with D6 PE
   pros: source available on sourceforge
   cons: freeclx is not vcl
install dont work because i have a french windows
i corrected the decimal point problem but still not work.
files on sourceforge are not updated and bug report was
   deleted/ignored.

anyone has any ideas or know if someone already doing this?

I'd be very surprised if you have success with either of
those two ways.  However, there are third-party tools
that do not descend from TDataset, and some of them are
freeware.  I've posted a message with links to about
six of them on the message forums at http://delphi.about.com/
and http://www.prestwood.com/ubb

The only URLs I can recall at the moment are:

One more URL, which has moved since I last posted those links:
