BDE Application Crashes in Windows XP

Hi All,

I developed a BDE application that has been in use for years in Win9X
environments.  Along came XP and screwed it up.  At first it seems to run ok
under XP but then something happens (I have no idea what) and it begins to
crash whenever it is started up.  I re-installed XP on the machine and it
seemed to run great.  Then we had a power failure which shut down the
machine unexpectedly.  After re-booting it would not run anymore.  Other
apps and data are fine.  The fancy new error messages in Windows seem to be
less helpful than ever.  Any ideas.

Hi, Ron

A long shot this, but I had similar problems. Do you have an
HP LaserJet 1100 as your default printer, by any chance?

Also, you may want to check that you're not trying to
initialise any com ports when the app runs.

These are the two areas that caused me grief.

I have had XP refuse to start an app when a paradox table was missing on
start up.  The XP error message gave no clue as to what the problem was.  I
would check or net and lck files that might prevent a table from being
opened or a table that was corrupted by the power outage.
