The basetablename and basecolumnname properties reside within the field
properties and this message often occurs when the values are Null. These are
the things I would check first. (adoanywhere browser exposes these
properties but you can do the same in code if you have time).

AdoDataset1.Recordset.Properties["basetablename"].Value;
http://www.adoanywhere.com/help/Field.htm#Dynamic

Make sure you try different CursorLocation, CursorTypes, LockTypes and a
range of tables and views.

A related cause could be a lack of Primary key on the table or the failure
to include the primary key fields in the SQL or View definition (but the
message usually slightly different).
