Date Fields on paradox sql statements

Please,

i would like to know how i can use a statement like this:
' SELECT * FROM tablex WHERE datefield > "01/01/2000" '

I tried to use this comands but i got a error message.
I'm trying to access a PARADOX table.

use single quotes to delimit dates:
SELECT * FROM <table> WHERE Datefield > '01/01/2000'

What is the error you are getting? The syntax you cite as an example
appears correct.

When does the error occur? When you first activate the TQuery? When you try
to access the data after activating the TQuery?
