lookup fields: entering values not existing in the lookup table

I am using a dbgrid with lookup fields in it. The lookup fields don't
allow entering values not existing in the lookup table.

Is there any possibility of entering a not existent value in the lookup
field. Or can I achieve this functionality with something else other
than lookup fields?

Thanks.

You can provide a button in the field that opens a form the user can use to
edit the lookup table. Use the Columns Editor to add persistent column
objects then set the ButtonStyle property for the lookup field to
cbsEllipsis. Finally, create an OnEditButtonClick event handler to respond
to the button being clicked.
