Checking for Rich Text formatting in a rich text edit box

Checking for Rich Text formatting in a rich text edit box

Is there a simple way to check if any formatting has been applied to the
text in a rich edit control?
I would like to save the contents as RTF if formatting has been applied,
but as TXT if it has not (saving plain text in RTF takes up a lot of extra
storage space).
