32-bit Delphi app using 16-bit BDE

We have a new project that needs to interface into an old system written in
Delphi 1 using a 16-bit Paradox database.

Are there any problems with writing the new app in Delphi 5/6 to be run
using a 16-bit BDE ?

Delphi 5/6 uses the 32-bit BDE, if you want to use the 16-bit BDE, you
MUST use Delphi 1.0.

However, the 32-bit BDE can access Paradox tables so you shouldn't have
a problem upgrading to Delphi 5/6.

You cannot use the 16 bit BDE with a 32 bit Delphi app. However, it is
possible for the 16 and 32 bit BDE to share access to the same Paradox
database as long as the tables are level 4 or higher. Just make sure that
both BDE's are configured as described in
