Chief's Unzip v1.10 (freeware sources) released

Hi all

This is to announce the release of Chief's Unzip
v1.10. Chief's Unzip is a FREEWARE package
consisting of Pascal/Delphi source code for
unzipping ZIP archives. It supports Borland/Turbo
Pascal (Dos, Dos DPMI and Windows 3.1x), Delphi
(1.0, 2.0, and 3.0), Virtual Pascal 2.0 (Win32
and OS/2), FreePascal (Dos and Linux), GNU Pascal
(latest beta, on all the supported platforms -
Dos, Win32, OS/2, Linux, Irix, Solaris, FreeBSD,
Alpha (OSF 1), etc.).

The main unit can be linked statically into programs,
but it can also be compiled into DLLs (Win16, Win32,
Dos DPMI, and OS/2). There are precompiled DLLs for
all these platforms. There is also a simple Pascal
object and Delphi component encapsulating the main
functionality of the units, and there are several
example programs.

I just downloaded the package and was really surprised how comfortable
is is!! No problems compiling!

But does anybody have sources for ZIPping files, not only for UNZIPping
them? I would be very glad!!

Thanks in advance!!

AFAIK, no-one has translated the InfoZip C sources for zipping files into
Pascal. I have seen Pascal sources for zipping files before (very long ago -
but these only supported the "implode" algorithm, and they were *very*
slow - so much as to be practically unusable).

Thanks Timo!
But can this C-code be used with a BP7.0 DPMI project? Can they be
compiled as a DLL? Or are there anywhere compiled DLLs? (I do not have
a  C-compiler)

Dear Arno,

I don't have the vaguest of ideas. We only have these files, and
I've compiled them on Unix to have un/zip also on my Unix host. I
have never done anything with them on MS-DOS. I just know that the
code is there. What good it is for the purposes of Pascal is quite
beyond me.

   All the best, Timo

No. How can C code be used with BP ?

Well, there are InfoZip C sources for Zip DLLs.

InfoZip have compiled DLLs - but I believe that they are for Windows.
Do a net search for "InfoZip".

Hmmm, well, thank you anyway!

Maybe I should go on searching, or even do a request in a C-related
newsgroup...
But thanks for this hint, I never thought of using code from other
languages/compilers than BP and MASM/TASM!

You could buy "async professional" from Turbopower Software,
it has full Zip/Unzip sources.
